Position Summary   Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor Department: Maintenance Reports to: Plant Manager Pay: $90,000+ Location: Palmyra, PA and Lebanon, PA (Including oversight of adjacent rental properties) Position SummaryThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of production equipment, utilities, facilities, and support systems within a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with Workplace People Safety, Food Safety, GMPs, preventive maintenance programs, and applicable regulatory requirements while supervising maintenance personnel and overseeing general building maintenance for adjacent rental properties.The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting food safety, operational efficiency, employee safety, and regulatory compliance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMaintenance & Equipment Oversight Supervise, schedule, and support maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production, packaging, refrigeration, and utility equipment.Ensure timely execution of preventive maintenance (PM) programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.Respond to emergency and unplanned maintenance events during production as needed.Maintain equipment reliability for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.Diagnose equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.Read, interpret, and apply equipment manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work orders. Workplace Safety, Food Safety, GMP, and Regulatory Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety requirements, GMPs, SQF, USDA, FSIS standards, workplace safety and internal procedures.Support food defense, food safety and workplace safety initiatives, including hygienic design, allergen controls, and contamination prevention during maintenance activities.Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work (as applicable), and contractor safety procedures are followed.Coordinate with QA/Safety on maintenance-related corrective actions, audits, and inspections.Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM documentation, and work order systems. Facility & Building Maintenance Perform or coordinate general facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical, and structural repairs.Oversee maintenance and light repair of adjacent rental properties, including coordination and supervision of contractors when required.Ensure facilities comply with applicable building codes, fire codes, and safety regulations.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Leadership & Communication Lead, train, and mentor maintenance staff to improve technical skills, safety awareness, and performance.Communicate effectively across all teams to support production goals.Assign work orders, track completion, and prioritize maintenance activities based on risk and operational impact.Support capital projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance in a food manufacturing environment.Mechanical systems, motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors.Electrical systems including 12/24V DC, single-phase and 3-phase / 480V AC.Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Basic PLC awareness and troubleshooting (preferred).Preventive maintenance systems (CMMS preferred).Welding and fabrication skills (preferred but not required).Safe use of hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment.Understanding of building systems, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility repair. CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING REQUIREMENTSRequired or Strongly Preferred: OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour (General Industry preferred)Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) trainingFood Safety / GMP trainingForklift / Powered Industrial Truck certification (or ability to obtain)Electrical certification (NFPA 70E Certification- General Industry Preferred) or licensed electrician (state or trade-based) Preferred Certifications: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT)HVAC/Refrigeration certificationWelding certificationSQF Practitioner (or experience working in SQF-certified facilities) EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Associate degree or technical certification in Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Industrial Mechanics, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experienceMinimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food manufacturingPrior supervisory or lead technician experience preferredExperience supporting audits (SQF, customer, regulatory) strongly preferred PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, crouch, and work from heights for extended periodsAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basisAbility to work in production, warehouse, and outdoor environmentsAvailability to work days, evenings, weekends, and overtime as requiredReliable transportation between facilities CORE COMPETENCIES Strong leadership and team-building skillsHigh attention to detail and safetyProblem-solving and critical thinkingAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionEffective written and verbal communicationCommitment to food safety, employee safety, and continuous improvement
