Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information Campus Recreation and Intramurals Job Summary The Student Assistant will support Campus Recreation and Intramurals as a Lifeguard on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer or Fall 2026. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.This position is a part of CRI's Spring Job Fair, February 23 - March 23, 2026. Responsibilities Supervises all swimmers through proper scanning Enforces all CRI and Aquatic policies, rules, and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries Provides emergency intervention when needed Provides individual assistance to members as needed Recognizes and responds to all emergencies Completes all necessary paperwork Responds to inquiries and concerns of patrons Participates in all in-service training and meetings Reports potential hazards and unsafe conditions immediately to a Team Leader, Graduate Assistant, or Director Maintains pool cleanliness Must pass American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid certifications or equivalent and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent before beginning to work Shift Specifics Up to 25 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Availability will determine Summer or Fall start date Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education Prefer certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Management, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Proposed Salary $10.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
