Your Role We are looking for a Lead Engineer to spearhead the next generation of our core database engine’s technical vision and architecture. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving innovation, influencing software technology decisions, and ensuring our platform is capable of dynamically scaling to meet changing product demands. The ideal candidate will be an expert in databases and query engines optimized for cloud environments and understand the current market landscape, including the strengths and weaknesses of cloud database providers. Familiarity with evolving cloud capabilities and the implementation of AI for enhanced performance will be an added advantage. Key Responsibilities Define and enhance the architectural framework for a scalable and elastic cloud database. Develop systems that support autoscaling and adaptive cost management. Keep abreast of cloud provider offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and associated industry tools, being aware of their performance characteristics, limitations, and future directions. Assess emerging technologies and open-source solutions to identify opportunities aligned with our needs. Influence long-term engineering strategies by collaborating with product, operations, and security teams to align technical decisions with business objectives. Your Team You will lead a team of senior technical architects to drive technical vision and execution. Your Qualifications Over 15 years of experience in database internals, query optimization, and execution. At least 10 years of expertise in large-scale distributed systems operating in the cloud. A proven track record of architecting high-scale and elastic systems. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. What You'll Bring Experience using AI for database optimization. Contributions to open-source cloud infrastructure projects. Previous experience as a Distinguished Engineer or Principal Engineer in a database or cloud-native organization. Familiarity with Teradata, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar systems. Salary Range: 239500.0000 - 299300.0000 - 359200.0000 Annually The starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on geographic location, internal equity, and experience. Other permanent roles are eligible for annual incentive plans based on company and individual performance.
