Block Schedule with 7 on 7 off format. 12-18 patients and approximately 1-2 admissions during each shift. The evening and overnight physicians generally see 2-3 new admissions per shift while covering the inpatient service. Physicians must be proficient in critical care and ventilator management or be willing to learn. Hospitalists co-manage surgical patients when requested by the surgeons.
