Job Description

Strategic Support Solutions is looking for experienced Avionics Design Drafter. You will be responsible for creating and modifying technical electrical schematics and structural layouts for Cessna Citation (jet) and King Air (turboprop) aircraft. The primary goal is to produce "Approved Data" that meets the rigorous standards of a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for FAA certification. Key ResponsibilitiesSchematic Design: Use AutoCAD to develop complex wiring diagrams, instrument panel layouts, and cable routing for new avionics suites (e.g., Garmin G1000/G5000 retrofits). Blueprint Alteration: Modify existing OEM blueprints to reflect "as-built" configurations or proposed modifications. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drawings comply with FAA Part 23 or Part 25 regulations to facilitate a smooth sign-off by the DER. Airframe Expertise: Apply specific knowledge of Citation and King Air airframes to ensure harness lengths, mounting brackets, and power draws are realistic for those specific cabins and cockpits. Required Qualifications Technical Skills: Mastery of AutoCAD (2D is standard, 3D is a plus). Experience: Minimum 4 years in an avionics-specific drafting role. Platform Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Textron Aviation products (specifically Citation and King Air). Certification Path: Proven track record of preparing documentation for FAA Form 8110-3 Physical Requirements/Working Environment Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties. Ability to move freely about the interior and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit. Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time. Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs. Background Checks This position is covered under Federal Aviation Regulations in regard to unescorted access to Security Identification Display Areas.
