The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and monitor established security management programs and assist in the management of a units Industrial, Physical, Information and/or Personnel Security programs. Performs security support duties by planning and organizing portions of the Unit's Security Program. Coordinates with Security Specialists on security policies and procedures and recommends new administrative procedures for security operations. Performs orientation training for newly assigned personnel and debriefs terminating personnel on unit requirements. Develops procedures for and monitors visitor controls and internal personnel identification procedures. Monitors classified data procedures and ensures compliance with security requirements. Receives and reviews requests for clearances, applying agency regulations regarding the type of security check needed; processes requested actions to the appropriate channels for action, and maintains files as required by directives. Receives and reviews requests for access into areas containing classified data for on-base employees, contractors and other visitors from the public sector. Coordinates with the Unit Security Manager and management officials to validate the need, approving or disapproving based on the information received. Analyzes problems related to issuing permanent access control badges for personnel outside the Unit who do not meet the necessary requirements. Maintains listings to provide security clearance and access authorization information on Unit personnel. Assists in monitoring Anti-Terrorism Security Plan and Threat Condition Checklists. Formulates specific instructions for the protection and control of resources during exercises and actual situations. Notifies appropriate offices and takes required action upon notification of any Threat Condition scenario. Assists supervisors and specialists in the management of security programs. Accomplishes the less complex security program management functions to include duties for managing security for automatic data processing and secure communications equipment and preparing updates for required briefings and debriefings for the Information Security Program. Serves as safe custodian when required. Prepares paperwork for material approval for destruction or declassification. Ensures material is properly packaged, hand receipts are prepared, and envelopes are properly marked. Qualifications: 1. Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. 2. Knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes. 3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports. 4. Ability to plan and organize work. Follows instructions, and accomplishes multiple ongoing projects. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
