The Transmission Planning Analysis Engineer willbe responsible forconducting studies in connection with the 34.5 kV, 69 kV, 138 kV, 230kVand 345 kV transmission system to ensurethe operationalreliability, adequacy, and security based on FERC 715. This work includes analysis of and studies for power flow,dynamic-stability,transient-stability, andvoltage-stability. Job Responsibilities Annual NERC TPL-001 Transmission System Planning Performance Assessment using steady-state, short-circuit, anddynamicspower systems techniquesutilizinga software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715. Annual NERC CIP-014Physical Security assessmentmodelingrealisticand historical physical attacks ontransmission equipment todetermineif said physical attack couldresult in instability, uncontrolled separation, or Cascading within anelectricalInterconnectionutilizinga software suite of TARA, PSSE, and DSA Tools. As requested NERC FAC-002 qualified changes and material modification impact studies to determine ifany new or materially modified load (including Large Loads and Data Centers), any new or materially modified generation, or any new or materially modified transmissionresults in an inability of the Transmission System to meet the performance requirements of FERC 715 using as applicable steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamic power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715. Evaluate the optimization oftheTransmissionSystem and proposed Transmission plans to reduce overall investment driving downward pressure onelectricratesutilizingtraditional and all new relevant and upcoming technologies such as GETs. Participatein stakeholder meetings of, Planprojects within, and Evaluate MISO's regional Transmission Planning process, the MISO Expansion Transmission Plan (MTEP) to ensure effective, efficient, and thorough evaluation of Transmission Projects ensuring just and reasonable Transmission scopeusing steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamics power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715. Participate in stakeholder meetings of, Plan projects within, and EvaluateMISO'sExpeditedProject Review (EPR) and Expediate ResourceAdequacy Study(ERAS)to ensure effective, efficient, and thoroughevaluation of Transmission Projects ensuring just and reasonableTransmission scopeusing steady-state, short-circuit, and dynamics power systems techniques utilizing a software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Tools as governed by FERC 715. Collaborate amongst Indiana's five vertically integrated Investor-Owned Utilities and twoGeneration & Transmission Cooperatives toestablisha cost-effective forecasted Transmission Plan that reliably servesexisting and newIndiana customers. Prepare for and defend against regulatory auditsof entities including but not limited to NERC,IURC,FERC, and MISOfor adherence to Transmission Tariffs, Distribution Tariff, and NERC compliance. Providethe Transmission Operations Control Centerassistancein times of emergency such as extreme weather events, emergency repairs, or system restoration to ensurea timelyreturn to energization of AES Indiana's customers. Provide assistancewithNERC standards including but not limited to TPL-007, TPL-008, and FAC-014using steady-state, short-circuit, anddynamicspower systems techniquesutilizinga software suite of TARA, PSSE, ASPEN, and DSA Toolsas needed. PositionRequirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar. A minimum of3years' experience working in the Electric Utility industry Problem-solving abilities are essential. Highly Desired Skills: Proficiencyin report writing, analysis, and compliance procedures. Detailed understanding of regulatory frameworks (NERC, FERC, PJM/MISO). The ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.
