CNA - Telemetry - Full TimeShift: 6:45pm - 7:15amJob Description:PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) performs individually assigned patient care activities based upon established patient care policies and procedures. Specific areas of responsibility include: monitoring of patient vital signs, providing patient hygiene and comfort measures, assisting with medical procedures, fulfilling nutritional needs, and maintenance of a record of the care provided as assigned. Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act. (Gov't. Code §§ 3100, 3102) Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization's standards/code of conduct. The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; and the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) in the state of California. Must have and maintain BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to speak English, write legibly, and read, understand and follow directions. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as metric system proportions and percentages if required. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills." LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: An individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) in the state of California. Must have and maintain BLS card, required. Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Indicates Essential Function 1Cooperates in team planning and execution of that plan to accomplish assigned patient care tasks effectively and safely. 2Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. 3 Transports patient(s) to and from various Hospital and/or Nursing Units with a pleasant attitude, i.e. Med/Surg to X-ray, ER to Med/Surg, discharge patients, etc. 4Assists in patient ambulation and positioning using safe body mechanics, i.e. patient from bed to standing position or chair. 5Assists with basic care needs, i.e. feeding, bathing, shampoo hair, shaving, oral care, Foley care, perineal care, diaper changes; vital signs (BP, P, R, T) routine and post-op; toileting and measuring output. 6 Assists with dietary needs of patients by setting up food trays, feeding adults, children and infants; documenting intake. 7 Provides equipment and supplies for patient, room or procedure as directed, i.e. makes beds, stocks supply carts, passes fresh water for patients, stocks soiled utility room, etc. 8Obtains, prepares and/or transports specimens to Lab ensuring with proper Lab slips, i.e. S&A, urine, stool. 9Monitors and documents patient care as directed. Reports variances immediately to appropriate health team member. Reports any patient concerns or changes in patient conditions to the R.N. as soon as possible. 10Performs other unit-specific duties; assists with daily supply count and assists Unit Clerk by assembling the patient record. 11 Demonstrates ability to identify and anticipate patient needs. 12 Interacts with patients to determine individual needs and coordinates with R.N. to accomplish. Communicates with Nurse pertinent patient information throughout shift via patient requests and documents appropriately. 13Participates in adherence to the Joint Commission "National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals" as defined by Scope of Practice. 14Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures. 15Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
