This non-exempt position pays $12.00 per hour and allows for a maximum of twenty hours of work per week. We are seeking a college student who is currently pursuing a degree from an accredited program in Communications, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field with a junior or senior undergraduate status preferred. Work hours are flexible within our business hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, to accommodate classes and other activities.Position SummaryThis position provides comprehensive support for the Human Resources and Corporate Communications Manager, combining responsibilities in Corporate Communications and Human Resources to offer a well-rounded experience. The role plays a key part in maintaining organizational compliance, fostering a culture of integrity, and promoting effective communication both internally and externally. As an intern, you will assist in ensuring the organization is up to date on all communications practices (digital & print media, public and community engagement, etc.) while adhering to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Primary Responsibilities Support the Communications Representative in all areas (social media, website, community engagement, school fairs, etc.)Support the creation of content for compliance-related campaigns, including newsletters, presentations, and social media updatesHelp develop and review internal and external communications to ensure alignment with company standardsAssist HR in job tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsPerform other related duties, as assigned Minimum RequirementsMust be available to work a maximum of 20 hours per week as assigned. Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited program in Communications, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Junior or senior undergraduate status preferred. Experience in Canva, creating/editing videos and all media content. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Design Products, and Canva. Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and meet deadlines. Team player with a proactive and positive attitude. High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information. Eagerness to learn and apply knowledge to real-world challenges. Hold a valid Texas Class C Driver's License. Preferred RequirementsProficiency with drafting and creating reports, design experience, and strong knowledge of Canva, Adobe products, and Microsoft software.  Nueces Electric Cooperative (NEC) is more than a non-profit, customer-owned, "at cost" electric utility.
