Job Description

Accounting Associate I Accounting Associate I is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions and administering payroll for both hourly and salaried employees in a non-union automation manufacturing environment for 70+ employees. This role ensures accurate and timely payments to vendors and employees while maintaining compliance with Ohio and federal regulations. The position supports daily accounting operations and requires strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality. Create approved supplier profile(s) within software databases and ensure contact information, payment terms, payment method, and other pertinent information is current and accurate. Perform a three-way match of purchase orders, good receipts, and invoices to ensure vendor delivery and price of goods/services being rendered are complete and accurate. Review, verify, and process high volumes of invoices related to raw materials, equipment, and indirect manufacturing supplies in accordance with company policies. Validate general ledger expense codes and cost center allocations are categorized correctly for all purchased items before posting invoices. Request and ensure proper approvals are received for invoices without purchase orders per our LOA. Coordinate payment runs (checks, ACH, and wires) to meet vendor terms and cash flow requirements. Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve any discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. Reconcile vendor statements, monitor aging reports, and investigate/research any discrepancies. Collaborate with procurement, receiving, and other departments to resolve issues such as price discrepancies and confirming delivery of goods. Support internal and external audits with invoice and payment documentation. Aid with month-end closing procedures which include purchase/use tax accruals, recording journal entries, processing expense reports, and performing account reconciliations. Maintain files and documentation including W-9s and certificates of insurance when applicable, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices. Assist management with special projects as assigned. Payroll Responsibilities Process weekly or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees Review and verify timecards, overtime, PTO, and pay differentials Maintain payroll records including deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings Ensure compliance with Ohio and federal wage and hour laws Assist with payroll tax filings, reports, and year-end processes (W-2s) Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and confidential manner Requirements Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required, additional education a plus. 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or similar role is preferred. Knowledge of general accounting functions (general ledger and expense classification). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; experience with ERP systems is preferred. Preferred Associate's degree in Accounting or related field Experience in a manufacturing or automation environment Experience with ERP systems and electronic timekeeping systems Desired Soft Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and at times independently based on the work requirements.
