Strategic Support Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Avionics Wire Harness Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end fabrication of complex wiring systems that power critical flight instruments and communication systems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of translating intricate blueprints into high-quality, airworthy wire harnesses. Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication: Build, assemble, and install complex wire harnesses and cables based on engineering drawings and wiring diagrams. Tooling: Expertly use hand tools including precision crimpers, wire strippers, heat guns, and soldering irons. Testing: Perform continuity and insulation tests to ensure all harnesses meet strict conductivity and safety standards. Routing & Lacing: Execute professional-grade wire routing, including spot-tying and lacing, ensuring harnesses are secured according to aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100 or IPC/WHMA-A-620). Documentation: Maintain accurate build logs and quality control documentation. Required QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience specifically in avionics or aerospace wire harness fabrication. Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, 2D blueprints, and 3D assembly models. Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with MIL-SPEC connectors (e.g., D38999), backshells, and various shielding techniques. Manual Dexterity: High level of hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with small components for extended periods. Desired Skills & CertificationsIPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies). J-STD-001 Soldering Certification. Experience with automated wire marking and testing equipment. Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentBe physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties. Ability to move freely about the interior and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit. Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time. Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
