Medical Billing Representative

Medical Billing Rep The MBS ensures that all patient information, charges, billings and follow-ups are accurate, complete and timely. The medical billing specialist will be responsible for preparing and submitting claims to various insurance companies through appropriate channels. As a MBS you are responsible to retrieve status information from payer websites, make minor corrections to patient account information as needed to ensure timely payments as well as follow each account through resulting in complete account resolution. Good organizational, time management and multitasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication as well as the ability to meet strict deadlines. Maintaining strict confidentiality by adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations is mandatory for this position. Responsibilities: Creating and navigating Meditech account work lists (30%) Correcting billing edits such as Incomplete, Rejection, Medical Review and Hold categories in Emdeon System (30%) Performing consistent internal follow-up regarding bill holds for timely submission of claims (20%) Performing Customer Service-related actions (10%) Abiding by productivity standards set by business office leadership (5%) Reading and understanding patient medical records and ensuring HIPAA confidentiality (5%) Desired Attributes: Bachelor's degree and/or 3 years Healthcare billing experience AHIMA/AAPC certified. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Minimum of one year billing experience in a health care organization Union: 1199-200B Clerical Workers (CPH) Education: Licenses / Certifications: Physical Requirements: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
