Job Description: SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a Data Integration Specialist to join their Information Technology team. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Data Integration Specialist designs, builds, and supports modern integrations across SUNY's enterprise systems, including Ellucian Banner, Brightspace, identity and access management, reporting solutions, and document management. The role covers application integrations (REST APIs, Ethos/Data Connect), data pipelines (e.g., Constituo), and operational scheduling (Ad Astra), along with administration and break/fix support for core systems such as Banner, Banner Document Management, and Argos. This position ensures secure, reliable, and well-documented data exchange, adheres to change management best practices, and supports end users with training and troubleshooting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Integration Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Banner, LMS, identity platforms, Slate CRM, Ad Astra, Constituo, and other campus systems using RESTful APIs, Ellucian Ethos/Data Connect, and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell). Automate data flows, jobs, and transformations; implement monitoring, alerting, and error handling for integration workloads. Collaborate on integration architecture, data mapping, and schema design aligned with institutional reporting needs. Application Support & System Administration: Provide administration and break/fix support for Banner, Banner Document Management, Argos, Laserfiche, and related platforms. Perform user account management, permissions updates, workflow configuration, and environment maintenance across supported systems. Diagnose and resolve application-level and system-level issues, coordinating updates, fixes, and upgrades within defined maintenance windows. Data, Reporting, and Analytics: Write and optimize Oracle SQL/PL/SQL queries and stored procedures; support reporting via Argos or comparable tools. Partner with functional offices on data validation, reconciliation, and report standards to ensure accuracy and auditability. Security, Compliance, and Governance: Ensure integrations comply with FERPA, cybersecurity principles, and institutional data handling standards (API security, least privilege, encryption in transit/at rest). Follow established change management procedures (e.g., ITIL-aligned) for documentation, testing, approvals, and communication. Platform Operations: Plan, test, and implement system patching and upgrades. Monitor application performance and system availability; address capacity and reliability issues proactively. Maintain technical documentation: integration workflows, system configurations, SOPs, and runbooks. Stakeholder Enablement: Provide training and responsive end-user support for staff and faculty. Translate technical concepts into clear guidance for non-technical audiences; contribute to knowledge base articles. Requirements: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with three or more years in data integration/API development OR an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with five or more years in data integration/API development. Hands-on experience building and utilizing API integrations and RESTful web services. Proficiency in SQL (Oracle), PL/SQL, and scripting (Python, PowerShell). Experience administering enterprise systems such as Ellucian Banner, Argos, Laserfiche, or comparable platforms. Strong troubleshooting skills for application and system issues; demonstrated experience with reporting tools (e.g., Argos). Experience with system patching, change management, and production support operations. Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in higher education IT environments. Knowledge of Ellucian Ethos, Ellucian Experience, Banner Workflow, and Data Connect. Familiarity with LMS data models, institutional reporting practices, and tools. Experience with Ad Astra, Slate CRM, and Constituo integration frameworks. Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, cron jobs, cPanel; and development with JavaScript, PHP, ReactJS. Understanding of cybersecurity principles for data exchange and API security; FERPA compliance.
