This role is primarily focused on equipment testing and repair, but also assisting integration in the shop on specific project tasks. Most people in this role will regularly learn new skills and processes, and it is a role that promotes technical skills growth. Controls technicians are expected to help improve workflows and contribute knowledge learned back to the wider team. While this role is primarily based in the shop, some project-related travel is a possibility.   Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities Perform detailed quality control on a wide range of products, including operating specialized testing equipment, effectively utilizing multiple types of commissioning and programing software tools, documenting all tests and outcomes, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and compatibility issues, and safely execute testing on live devices.  Create/Upgrade all variations of Navigator QNX media while being familiar with Navigator software and binary versions and relationships between QNX and Nav versions as well as applying and updating Navigator software as well as creating and maintaining licensing for all stock products. Effectively communicate and understand technical information while troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, programing, and testing wide rand of products across all versions of navigator and keeping an open communication on repairs and timelines, as well as supporting and communicating with the Support department and Clients. Provide general technical assistance on projects located in the shop, assist in system troubleshooting, Factory Acceptance Testing, operating and setup Navigator Systems. Kinesys / Navigator / R&D Assistance including providing feedback, assisting in implementing design and testing process updates, while also accurately documenting configuration and testing process/requirements on all new products.  Provide active management of all golden device configurations used while regularly updating device configurations as needed and updating the repository with change made onsite. Communicate bugs to the software development team while updating and adding to TAIT knowledgebase, while assisting other team members in Slack. Provide feedback and support to Integration, Support, Project Management, and acting as a liaison between business units. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.   Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company. Time Management: Efficiently managing tasks, priorities, and schedules for control system projects, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Documentation: Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for control system configurations, programming, and troubleshooting procedures. Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to staying updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in control system engineering. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma, or G.E.D. Control Systems and Electrical Fundamentals. Intermediate computing and applications knowledge. Electrical fabrication experience preferred. First article testing. Willingness to travel on average 20 days per year. Working Conditions and Physical Effort The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs. Must be able to carry 20 lbs. Must be able to pull or push 30 lbs.  Work conditions of the role are: Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions. Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required.
