Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift IMC/Stepdown position requiring an active IL license, telemetry experience, and BLS/NIHSS certification. Responsibilities Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit of an acute care Level I trauma, Magnet hospital Stepdown/PCU/DOU/IMC environment caring for telemetry and neuro stepdown patients Night shifts of 3x12 (18:45-07:15), with potential to accommodate 4x12 schedule by request Required to work every other weekend No on-call responsibilities Floating within scope to other units as needed Uses Cerner charting system; experience preferred Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, ortho trauma, GI, GU/renal, respiratory, and post-surgical cases Responsibilities include caring for complex acute patients requiring stepdown and telemetry monitoring Position is in a teaching hospital and Level I trauma center Any solid color scrubs are permitted No restriction for local candidates Time off requests ideally not to exceed 5 days First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment Free parking with required permit provided during orientation Requirements Active IL RN license required at the time of application Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry, Stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC required Certifications required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred Demonstrated skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, post-cardiac care, and rapid response Experience with feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, central and arterial line care, blood product administration, and starting IVs Proficiency in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, procedural sedation, and medication protocols Capable of managing a range of cases including craniotomy, CVA, neuro and ortho trauma, plastic surgery, and respiratory support (ventilators, chest tubes, CPAP, HFNC, trach management) Familiar with isolation precautions, wound/vac care, and related professional skills Cerner EMR experience is preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-672171.
