JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, is responsible for the procurement and planning of materials, supplies and services that support the business. This includes accountability for exercising control on defined inventory levels for purchased parts. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administer the negotiations and buying of production materials, consumable supplies, landed material costs and expense items both international and domestic. Determines all purchased parts ordering activity based on plan forecasts, inventory objectives, customer demands and economic ordering patterns, using a fully integrated MRP II manufacturing system. Implement demand flow process as appropriate. As appropriate, assist in expediting material shortages to determine reason and takes corrective actions with the vendor. Participates in the disposal of surplus and obsolete inventory. Coordinates with the appropriate QA personnel regarding processing of non-conforming materials to ensure timely vendor involvement and accountability when making disposition. Verifies vendor invoices for accuracy, price extensions and quantities received. Coordinating with Planning, Purchasing, and production supervisors Managing inventory levels by: Developing optimal inventory levels for safety stock Managing service levels for our top customers Supporting daily improvements Managing bottlenecks Identifying process improvements KPI Management Managing and improving customer delivery performance Managing inventory levels Collaborating with Supply Chain to identify and evaluate key suppliers on quality, timeliness, procedures Update Commercial team on any changes to lead times Maintaining accurate data in SAP Participating in Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle Support disposition of excess inventory KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Requires 0 - 3 years buying experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment, preferably with participation in NAPM and / or APICS. Working knowledge of an integrated manufacturing system with computer applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills to enhance required negotiation requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, up to 3yrs related buying experience in a manufacturing setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
