Healthy Harvest Corps Summer- Cleveland The Ohio Association of Foodbanks (OAF) represents Ohio's 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their 3,600 member hunger relief programs, serving food insecure Ohioans in all 88 counties. OAF will host 25 AmeriCorps members serving at 9 host sites throughout Ohio. Deploying AmeriCorps direct service members at local and regional hunger relief agencies will support a coordinated statewide effort to improve health by getting healthy food into the homes of food insecure Ohioans. Summer positions will focus on promoting fresh produce among youth populations. This position is located at Food Strong a Cleveland based nonprofit organization advancing food justice in Northeast Ohio and beyond by building enduring local food systems from the ground up. Food Strong operates the Food Sovereignty School Program, which delivers hands on garden, nutrition, and food systems education in schools across the region. We are also transforming a three acre community farm into a permanent hub for food education, workforce development, volunteer engagement, and neighborhood connection. Through our Care A Van program, Food Strong brings fresh food, arts, wellness resources, and educational opportunities directly into community settings such as farmers markets and neighborhood events. Member Duties : AmeriCorps Members will support healthy food access & nutrition education initiatives serving the Cleveland community. Members will lead interactive, youth-friendly culinary demonstrations featuring fresh, seasonal produce available through our garden & local food system partners. Members will research and develop weekly nutrition themes aligned with seasonal produce availability; create and test simple, culturally relevant recipes that families can prepare at home; and facilitate engaging healthy-eating demonstrations for youth and families. They will also participate in garden operations, including planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting. Conduct educational garden tours. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, engaging with youth and community members, & supporting equitable access to healthy foods. Members will gain hands-on experience in nutrition education, urban agriculture, and community engagement while making a meaningful impact.
