Buyer Position at Patriot Erectors, LLC Patriot Erectors is a full-service, AISC Certified Steel Fabricator and AISC Advanced Steel Erector. Founded in 1991, the company is located just west of Austin, Texas, with a modern 60,000-square-foot fabrication facility. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Buyer will be responsible for source selection and procurement functions related to the detailing, fabrication, and field operations for various Patriot Erectors locations including DFW, Central Texas, Houston, and Trinity, Texas. Critical Duties: Secure and analyze supplier quotes. Generate purchase orders for raw steel materials, fasteners and pre-fabricated products from suppliers. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers. Organize and implement purchasing strategies with direction from the Director of Procurement. Study market prices and trends. Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned): Closely coordinate with Fabrication/Field Operations and Project Management to assure timely execution of product sourcing activities. Research and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery(schedule) competitiveness for assigned responsibilities. Coordinate the inventory control parameters for the assigned products. Assist in the resolution of product quality and delivery problems. Competencies: Technical and Analytical Capacity. Education/Experience: Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. 5 years plus experience in a steel manufacturing environment. 2 years of purchasing and material control experience in a steel manufacturing environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Enthusiastic and high energy. Ability to multi-task. Continual improvement Must continually be growing one's craft learning new tools and techniques to manage one's self. Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics and reporting. MS Office. Tekla EPM (preferred). Excellent communication skills. Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills. Read and interpret drawings (preferred). Effectively write business correspondence. Manage/monitor operations and deliverables. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. The core operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours of work may change based upon the needs of the business. The position of Buyer requires occasional weekend work or additional daily hours as needed to support manufacturing schedules.
