Summary: The Solar Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical systems associated with commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. This position requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to lead and support crews in the field. All work must be performed in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company safety policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Install, terminate, test, and commission electrical systems for solar PV installations, including inverters, combiner panels, switchgear, and grounding systems. 2. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with project specifications. 3. Ensure all work complies with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and all applicable state and local codes. 4. Perform system testing, inspections, and troubleshooting to verify performance and identify deficiencies. 5. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components to determine root cause and implement corrective action. 6. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, one-lines, and construction drawings. 7. Direct and support apprentices and electrical workers in installation, maintenance, and safe work practices. 8. Maintain tools, equipment, and job sites in a safe and organized condition. 9. Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and job site standards. Requirements: • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience. • Minimum of 3 years of solar electrical experience (commercial or utility-scale preferred). • Active Journeyman Electrician license as required by jurisdiction. • Demonstrated experience installing and troubleshooting solar PV systems. • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and components. • Ability to meet and pass the company's Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) criteria. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment. Preferred Requirements (Must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not currently held): • NFPA 70E certification. • Demonstrated understanding of basic electrical theory. • Successful completion of Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) qualification process. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent field experience. Candidates that accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. This exam is essential to ensure that all potential employees meet the necessary health and fitness standards for the role. The examination includes a series of tests and evaluations conducted by a certified medical professional to assess overall physical health, identify any potential medical conditions that could interfere with job performance, and verify that the candidate is capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position. Completion and clearance of this physical are mandatory steps in the hiring process.
