Commercial Credit Associate The Commercial Credit Associate plays a pivotal role in assessing and managing credit risk for commercial clients at M&T Bank. This position involves analyzing financial statements, monitoring loan portfolio, and ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a critical link between relationship managers (RM) and credit risk management to facilitate sound lending decisions and portfolio management. Primary responsibilities include: Facilitating the credit needs of customers by underwriting new requests and material modifications from deal screen through approval and for the life of the loan. Managing the ongoing credit risk of existing loan portfolios through continuous credit monitoring activities. Reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information to determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information. Analyzing financial information and related materials to complete credit analyses for the Bank's commercial transactions. Making appropriate structure recommendations based on an analysis and evaluation of scenarios. Identifying suspicious activity and activity that may be contrary to customer's interest. Partnering proactively with relationship managers (RM) and being intimately involved throughout the deal process. Preparing cash flow, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, and guarantor statement analysis as appropriate. Attending client/prospect calls with RMs to gain a thorough understanding of the client/prospect and their business. Preparing summary, presenting facts, and offering opinions concerning credit-worthiness. Ensuring credit policy compliance by verifying adherence of underwriting to the Commercial Credit Policy. Understanding and adhering to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls. Promoting an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintaining M&T internal control standards. Completing other related duties as assigned. Education and experience required include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and at least 4 years' experience in commercial credit, public accounting, and financial statement analysis. In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum 8 years' higher education and work experience to include at least 4 years' experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis or other financial analysis. Education and experience preferred include experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, and Bloomberg. M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $94,400.00 - $157,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
