Fluvanna County Public Schools seek to hire a Student Activities Administrative Assistant for the 2026-27 school year.Questions regarding this position can be directed to Scott Morris, Director of Student Activities, at complete an online application for review.Job Title: Administrative Assistant - Student ActivitiesLocation: Fluvanna County High SchoolSalary Index: Administrative Assistant Salary Scale 12 Month Contract, Daily hours and shifts may change based on the needs of the programsReports To: Director of Student ActivitiesSUMMARY Performs day to day office operations and clerical tasks to support the student activities department and division personnel by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Support scheduling, compliance,and communication for athletes and student activities. Coordinate event logistics, eligibility verification, and public communications. Assist with budgeting, equipment inventory and event coördination. Improve operational consistency across student activities. Answer, transfer, and message all incoming phone calls. Welcome, direct, and provide information to visitors, callers and staff. Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor with all staff and visitors. Sort, route, inventory, and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and parcels. Organize and assist staff with scheduling activities, events calendars, and school mailings. Maintain a calendar to coordinate the use of rooms and school sites. Compose and transcribe correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, and other material as requested. Maintain records of confidential nature, prioritize assignments, and assemble data from records. Assists with student and staff incentive and activity programs. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques along with business English, spelling and arithmetic. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. Ability to type at a reasonable rate of speed (To be determined by administration). Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others and the ability to meet the public effectively. Strong organizational, human relations, and communications skills. Basic user level computer competency with word processing, Microsoft Office and knowledge of web-based information systems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Public education and school related experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Virginia Driver's license PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
