IT Operations Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on technical leader with expertise in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and networking to make a significant impact. You will oversee daily IT operations, lead pivotal projects, ensure system reliability, and drive continuous improvement to align IT services with our business goals. Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely while collaborating in person at our Herndon, VA headquarters twice a month. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Manage and mentor IT team members, conducting performance reviews and fostering skill development. Operational Excellence: Supervise daily IT operations to guarantee consistent system availability, reliability, and security. Troubleshooting and Escalation: Act as a pivotal escalation point for complex technical and operational issues. Vendor Management: Cultivate and oversee vendor relationships, monitor performance, and resolve issues to ensure effective IT services. Budget Oversight: Manage the IT budget to control costs and optimize expenditures. Project Management: Lead and execute IT projects, from planning to completion, including cloud transformations and infrastructure enhancements. Prioritize projects based on business needs and timelines. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, manage schedules, and scope changes. Monitor project progress, risks, and dependencies while providing regular updates. Cloud & Collaboration Management: Optimize Microsoft Azure environments, focusing on identity, compute, networking, and security elements. Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID. Support cloud migrations and initiatives aimed at cost efficiency. Networking & Infrastructure Management: Oversee network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless connectivity. Ensure secure and reliable connections in both on-premise and cloud settings. Engage with vendors and service providers for hardware, software, and managed services. Security & Compliance: Mitigate risks by implementing and maintaining cybersecurity best practices. Ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 and CMMC standards across cloud, network, and endpoint systems. Manage vulnerability assessments, patching, and incident response measures. Lead audits and enforce compliance with established policies. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a relevant field. 5+ years of progressive IT experience with leadership or team management roles. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms. Strong grasp of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching. Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft 365, etc.) Project Management certifications (PMP, CAPM, Agile/Scrum) Networking or security certifications (Cisco, CompTIA Network+, Security+) Experience managing hybrid or cloud-first environments. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
