Locum-to-Perm - Fort Wayne, Indiana, NP/PA CVT Surgery Opening A locum-to-perm opportunity is available for experienced NPs or PAs with Cardiothoracic Surgery experience in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This position offers a high-acuity CVT service line, strong APP integration, and a preferred 7-on/7-off schedule, with flexibility for other availability. Assignment Overview Start: March 16, 2026 Duration: Ongoing need (locum-to-perm) Practice Setting: Hospital-based Trauma Level: Level II Stroke Certified Hospital Facility will accept multiple providers Preferred Schedule 7 on / 7 off (Monday-Sunday) - preferred Will consider other available schedules Weekly Coverage Structure Monday-Thursday Onsite Coverage: 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. All CV APPs start at 7:00 a.m. to attend daily CV Surgery meetings On Call: Begins at 4:30 p.m. APP may return to hotel and be available for callback Friday Onsite Coverage: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. On Call: Begins at 5:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday 24-Hour Coverage Onsite Rounding: Approximately 4 hours Arrive at 6:00 a.m. to begin rounding On-call remainder of day/night Weekend support includes a rounding nurse from 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. who handles first-line calls and assists with orders. Call Details Call Type: In-house Call Ratio: 1:3 Call Response Time: 20 minutes Phone Consults: 5 Patients Seen: 8-10 Admissions: 3 Callback Rate: 25% Patient Coverage Assigned Patients Admissions Required Inpatient management, ER consults, and transfers ICU call 1-2 nights per week when applicable Clinical Responsibilities Daily rounding on: ICU patients Stepdown patients New consults Discharges Medical management and call coverage Weekend rounding with surgeon support First assist opportunities once oriented to surgeon preferences OR & Procedural Responsibilities Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) using Hemapro 2 Help train new APPs on EVH Some open vein harvest (e.g., fem-pop bridging cases) Emergency OR call possible while on weekend call PA Requirement: EVH experience ( 500 cases / 10 years preferred) Service Lines Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valves, aortic dissections, high-acuity cases Thoracic Surgery: Robotic thoracic, VATS, thoracotomies Lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal masses No esophageal surgery Vascular Surgery: CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations, open vascular cases Advanced Heart Failure: LVAD, ECMO, Impella Additional Details Laptop required for call coverage Additional form required prior to interview if selected EMR Cerner Candidate Requirements NP or PA with Cardiothoracic Surgery experience - Required Board Certified - Required Active Indiana License - Required Compact License Accepted ACLS - Required Allow RecruitWell to set up a phone call with you and the client to discuss more!
