#CA-DS The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for daily management of the centralized authorization/scheduling teams for medications administered under medical benefits, pharmacy revenue cycle, and pharmacy managed care operations. Strategic collaborations with multiple teams including, but not limited to, pharmacy services, pharmacy business services, centralized prior authorization, and supporting the Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer. Oversees performance and quality improvement initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance with State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission, and professional practice standards, 340B compliance, as well as University and department policies, procedures, and standards. Plans and coordinates the development of pharmacists, technicians, and analysts to meet requirements. Registered Pharmacist in the State of California Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D), or equivalent training Completion of Post Graduate Year Two (PGY2), or five (5) years of professional experience Experience in leading or supervising pharmacy operations Knowledge in Pharmacy practice and industry best practices in optimizing the use of medications to treat patients Ability to stay updated on pharmacy regulations, drug products, and developments in research and design Knowledge of all pharmacy federal and state laws and regulations Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, and ability to anticipate and effectively handle change Customer service orientation to respond quickly and with empathy to patient issues Ability to organize operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving workflow systems and protocols Ability to collaborate within and across departments to coordinate daily Pharmacy activities and resolve problems Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff Preferred Qualifications Lean Certification Experience in one of the following practice areas: Health System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership, 340B, Business Analytics, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Automation, Technology Practice in multi-site or system roles Experience using or management of EMR, Epic hospital billing, medication charging Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques, capital resource planning, accounting, revenue cycle management, pharmacy reimbursement rates Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis abilities Proficiency- in financial analysis, business analytics software, and data visualization platforms Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail Strong leadership qualities and the ability to lead and motivate a team Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely develop business plans, proposals, presentations, and financial reports Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely articulate expectations to technical and clinical staff as part of a new system integration/change Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations and instructions to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders Ability to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for customers Ability to demonstrate an interested, understanding, compassionate manner Ability to maintain a courteous and calm demeanor Ability to proactively approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem, identify the resources available to help solve the problem, create and implement viable solutions, and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached Computer skills allowing for analysis or large databases and including but not limited to Microsoft Office software Knowledge of relevant Pharmacy Department, Medical Center, and UC policies and protocols including medicine storage, safety, patient privacy, and treatment Key Responsibilities 45% - Centralized Authorization and Scheduling Services (Medical Benefits, Medications 30% - Pharmacy Managed Care 25% - Pharmacy Revenue Cycle Department Overview UC Davis Health is a nationally recognized leader in the provision of high-quality, patient-centered care, based in the Greater Sacramento area of Northern California. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs. The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
