SUMMARY The General Maintenance Engineer II ("Ingeniero/a de Mantenimiento I") assists to ensure equipment, physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Perform maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing (e.g., clogged drains/toilets), electrical systems (switches, outlets, lighting, TVs), HVAC, hardware, appliances, and cosmetic repairs. Monitor and respond to Fire Alarm and Life Safety systems; maintain working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems and assist during related emergencies. Support energy conservation efforts by monitoring utility usage and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency. Maintain, clean, and properly store all tools and equipment; ensure assigned tools are protected and secured. Respond promptly to emergencies to protect guests, associates, and property; communicate incidents to Engineering Management and assist in restoring normal operations. Promote a safe work environment by following Job Safety Analysis guidelines, identifying hazards, and correcting unsafe conditions. Read and record meter and gauge readings; maintain accurate daily logs and ensure clear shift-to-shift communication. Keep engineering spaces clean and organized; assist with departmental tasks as assigned to support hotel operations. Complete all assignments safely and professionally; communicate material and supply needs; provide guidance and technical support to team members as needed. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED. At least 3-12 months of relevant experience and/or training. If no educational background, at least 1 year. Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred. Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required. Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges. Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs. Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc. The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq. The pay scale posted is the salary or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position during the first year of employment. The posted range does NOT include potential additional types of compensation, such as gratuities, service charges, commissions, or bonuses. Actual compensation offered may fluctuate based on qualifications and/or experience.
