East Holmes Local Schools is looking for a dynamic instructional leader to join our administrative team serving in the role of Principal. Job Type: Full-time, Administrative, 11-month contract (214-day contract) Summary: Serves as instructional leader and administrative executive of the building; directs the instructional program and operation of the school plant; coordinates staff and student activities; implements Board administrative policies and guidelines; evaluates building staff; represents the East Holmes Schools in a favorable public image at all times Key Responsibilities: Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations; ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. Participates in the recruiting, screening, interviewing and selection of school personnel Collaborates in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program, while leading building level implementation measures. Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignments. Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds. Supervises the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes; authorizes after school hours facility use. Keeps the Superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school. Promotes high standards of attendance, student conduct and discipline. Evaluates and counsels staff members regarding the performance of their duties. Ensures compliance with FERPA, student privacy laws, Ohio Public Records Law, and District records retention requirements. Exercises authority consistent with Board policy and as delegated by the Superintendent. Administers personnel supervision and evaluations in accordance with Board policy, administrative guidelines, and the collective bargaining agreement. Serves as a mandatory reporter and implements building-level safety, emergency, and crisis response plans in accordance with District and State requirements. Attends and participates in planning meetings for students with disabilities as appropriate. Serve as District Representative as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree Appropriate Ohio Principal's Certification/Licensure A current, valid Ohio driver's license Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and families Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Demonstrates regular and dependable attendance Clean criminal background check as required by law. Preferred Qualifications: Leadership or mentorship experience Strong literacy background (LETRS, Wilson Certification, K-12 Reading Endorsement) Key Skills and Attributes: Exhibits strong understanding of effective instruction, curriculum development, and assessment systems Effective project management and problem-solving abilities Ability to balance district-level duties with in-building instructional support and management Skill in analyzing and interpreting instructional data Effectively able to support and grow instructional strategies and outcomes for students Proactively fosters a safe, positive school culture by building relationship, ensuring two-way communication, developing shared vision, and empowering student voice Recruits, interviews and recommends staff for employment. Provides effective feedback on performance for staff and students Effectively manages a positive school climate and administers corrective student discipline Plans and develops the budget process with appropriate staff; prepares budget recommendations Other Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as a role model for students and staff Serves as ex officio member of all committees and councils within his/her school Serves as a member of committees and attends such meetings as the Superintendent directs Performs other duties as assigned Work Environment & Expectations Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues. Occasional interaction among unruly students. Occasional exposure to difficult interpersonal situations.
