Position Type: Support Staff/Health Aide Date Posted: 2/2/2026 Location: District Employee Date Available: ASAP District: Steger School District 194 THIS POSTING IS FOR A SUBSTITUTE POSITION - ON CALL, ONLY WHEN NEEDED $15.00 an hour, No benefits Certified Nursing Assistant JOB SUMMARY: The certified nursing assistant will work directly with students under the supervision of the district nurse to attend to students' immediate medical needs. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Building Principal District RN QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of state-approved training as: Certified Nursing Assistant Licensed Practical Nurse Registered Nurse Possess valid driver's license Previous experience as a custodian in an educational environment preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Basic medical knowledge and techniques Recording of vital signs, including respiration, body temperature, pulse, and blood pressure Changing dressings Maintaining patient safety and personal hygiene Providing personal care based on students' individual needs Caring for multiple students in school Providing empathy and compassion PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Constant hand-eye, mind-eye coordination. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, bending, lifting, and stooping required. Occasional travel to various school locations required. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature and noise are relatively nonexistent Work is performed in an environment where health hazards may occur Occasional need for work outside the normal hours/days LICENSES/CREDENTIALS: Current state certification in the appropriate specialty TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 178 days per year 7 hours per day Twelve sick days per year Four personal days per year Vacation days as stated in Policy 5:330 At-will position FLSA Non-Exempt Starting hourly wage: $15/hour PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Two evaluations will be conducted during the first year of employment (45 and 90 days). After the probationary period, evaluations will be completed in accordance with administrative procedures.
