As a Manager of Material Control for Life Sciences North America, you will be responsible for all capital equipment Materials Management on Mega and Critical Projects (Projects with a Total Installed Cost of $750M+, or those of high importance to Jacobs, regardless of value, based on client relationship, incentives or compensation structure, inherent challenges, or strategic importance to the business.). The Manager of Material Control manages professional employees at the Performance Unit or Line of Business level and is accountable for the results of all Materials efforts on assigned Projects.Share your career accomplishments with a stout Supply Management team as you oversee the materials group within our Life Sciences North America Procurement organization. Effectively and proactively plan, coordinate, and control the execution of the materials activities on key projects while maintaining responsibility for day-to-day section management obligations. As the Manager of Material Control, you ensure on-time performance, cost savings, and high-quality metrics across your teams’ projects, while simultaneously accomplishing objectives and value-added expectations for the department. The Manager of Material Control has thorough knowledge and understanding of materials management concepts, principles and practices within the engineering and construction industry, including demonstrated experience in both home office and field materials management & procurement.The Manager of Material Control reports directly to the Director of Procurement, Life Sciences North America. While supporting Jacobs’ Projects, the Manager of Material Control will report indirectly to the assigned Project Procurement Manager (PPM) or Project Manager.Bring your curiosity, passion for innovation, and talent for multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and we will help you grow, pursue and fulfill what inspires you - so we can make big impacts on the world, together!Some responsibilities will include:• As a Section Manager, oversee material coordinator resources and direct materials management activities required to support the planning and execution of purchased and capital equipment for operations or projects• As a Section Manager, provide direction and expertise on materials management related activities for projects• As a Section Manager, represent Materials Management during office, or project, strategy coordination meetings• As a Section Manager, ensure Materials Management is engaged in business development and proposal support activities• As a Section Manager, provide the necessary written, graphic, and pricing/cost information in support of the proposal process. Support the Director of Procurement in providing budget estimates for labor hours as well as for anticipated materials and/or equipment in support of the proposal process• As a Section Manager, provide preliminary risk assessment related to the materials management activities on a project while enacting a preliminary strategy for materials management execution• As a Section Manager, establish and maintain effective training programs to develop existing personnel in support of Business Unit projects.• As a Section Manager, ensure full compliance with Procurement Policies and Procedures by the various project material coordinator teams.• As a Section Manager, effectively communicate with the Director of Procurement, other internal departments, and with Clients on materials management issues related to certain projects or the business• Bachelor’s degree in a business, construction, supply chain, or operations management field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.• 10+ years of experience in capital equipment field materials management is required.• Experience to manage and lead in the development of Materials Management Professionals of all backgrounds and experiences.• Experience with supplier quality management, purchasing, and expediting is preferred• 5+ years of experience in Biopharmaceutical/Life Science Manufacturing ProjectsIdeally you'll also have:• Master’s degree preferrable• Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.• Must possess strong communication, organization, and management abilities. This position involves the coordination of multiple activities across multiple projects• Understands the technical, organizational, managerial and business issues related to Procurement on large, capital, projects• A drive to solve complex and challenging problems• Understands overall corporate resources and capabilities of EPC/CM Projects• The ability to work and thrive in a team environment• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills• A drive to solve complex and challenging problems• Willingness to indirectly lead and mentor a team of material control professionalsJacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
