Job Title The position provides organization, sanitation, and general maintenance in the assigned functional areas. The City of Wilton Manors reserves the right to modify and update this job description and to ask employees to perform tasks beyond the duties presented herein. Examples of duties include: Maintaining a safe and clean working environment and providing for the general upkeep for the assigned areas. Maintaining City buildings, parks, and recreational facilities. Performing and assisting with various special projects. Maintaining and repairing public right-of-ways, green spaces, City parks, and recreational facilities; performing routine grounds maintenance tasks. Utilizing fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to maintain green space, right-of-ways, and parks and recreational areas. Installing and repairing various fencing; e.g., wooden fencing, chain link fencing; repairing and replacing boardwalks and other wooden structures. Installing and repairing various plumbing fixtures and piping; e.g., sinks, showers, toilets, PVC pipes, drinking fountains. Installing and performing minor repairs on electrical equipment; e.g., timers, light fixtures, outlets, switches, fuses, fans, hand dryers, electric gates, garage doors, air conditioners. Typical qualifications include: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work and a minimum of (2) years' experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and grounds within a similar public environment; ability to lift 20 lbs; ability to squat, kneel, or crouch for prolonged periods of time; ability to withstand prolonged active work periods both indoors and outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, and other inclement weather with protective equipment and measures.
