Controls Technician

Job Title: Controls TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Controls Technician plays a crucial role in supporting manufacturing operations by developing, programming, installing, troubleshooting, and enhancing electrical and control systems for production equipment within a regulated medical device environment.Responsibilities Install, wire, program, update, and debug PLCs, HMIs, robots, and motor controls. Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and electro-mechanical issues to minimize downtime. Support new equipment installations, process improvements, and continuous improvement projects. Work with vendors on controls-related tooling, fixtures, and equipment. Assist with validation activities, including execution and documentation. Collect machine data to support process capability (Cpk), scrap reduction, and statistical analysis. Support new product introductions (NPI) and production ramp-ups. Create and update control system documentation and work instructions. Train and provide technical support to operators and maintenance staff. Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements (FDA / ISO environment). Essential Skills Expertise in robotics, including programming, editing, troubleshooting, and moving points. Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, I/O, wiring, and electrical systems. Experience with new equipment installation. Additional Skills & Qualifications PLC programming and troubleshooting. Wiring and sensor knowledge. Experience with HMI, Fanuc, installation, motor control, and procurement. Continuous improvement mindset. Work EnvironmentThis role operates on the 1st shift, working 40 hours a week. The position involves 30% of the time on the manufacturing floor and 70% on project work for new equipment, installations, and capital projects.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Caledonia, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
