Job Description

Join our Quality / Metrology team for a hands-on summer internship building tools that will be used by service centers across the nation. You'll work with engineers and metrologists to design and deliver a web-based dashboard and automated analytics pipeline that centralizes calibration and metrology data, streamlines decision-making, and reduces ad-hoc email/phone coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to combine software engineering, data analysis, and practical metrology knowledge - you'll deliver production-ready software, own recurring monthly analytics, and hand off a documented, tested solution!Your tasks Design and build a web-based dashboard (frontend + backend) to display calibration and metrology metrics with real-time or scheduled updates. Implement data pipelines and automated analyses to support calibration-interval adjustment recommendations and produce monthly reports. Create an easy-to-use mechanism (dashboard pages, alerts, or documentation portal) for Satellite Labs to view metrology requirements and status. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, estimate work, and iterate on functionality; demonstrate progress in regular check-ins. Produce unit/integration tests, deployment scripts, documentation, and a hand-off package so the tool is maintainable and reproducible. Provide training and onboarding materials for users and support initial adoption. Application tipsWatch the video and learn all about our application process: Application Interview Contact persons Your qualifications Rising Jr or Sr currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science / Software Engineering, Data Science / Statistics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (instrumentation/metrology focus), or Industrial / Quality Engineering. Programming experience in Python and/or JavaScript. Experience with data analysis and basic statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, time-series basics). Familiarity with relational databases and SQL. Comfortable with version control (Git) and writing clear documentation. Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Familiarity with automated reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI) or report generation in Python/R. Minimum 3.0 GPA Summer resident of the greater Columbia, MD area.
