Description The Senior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Strategist is responsible for the management and oversight of the GIS strategy of projects executed in the global practice. This position will advise on GIS strategy best practices both internally and externally and present themselves as thought leaders in the industry. The Senior GIS Strategist will work collaboratively with project and division leadership to influence, develop and reinforce the GIS strategy for the organization. This position will also establish workflows and standards for the practices and training junior staff. This position will also perform a variety of GIS analyses, GIS data development, GIS data maintenance and preparation to create project deliverables. They will also be responsible for Geospatial data management and support integration into other software platforms as needed to support planning, design, and construction workflows through the life of a project. This position will perform a variety of GIS analysis, data development, maintenance and preparation, and mapping deliverables (digital and static) for use in both publicly accessible GIS systems and for integration with design deliverables in software such as Bentley and AutoCAD. Essential Functions: Leads the development and strategy efforts of GIS system configurations, maps and data sets for client teams. Manages the quality review and continual improvement of technical specifications, project approaches, cost estimates and schedules. Mentors Junior staff GIS projects and workflows, provides review for quality and alignment with standard practices Utilizes various software packages and information from various sources to manage GIS mapping efforts and lead field personnel. Drives project development of GIS system configurations and requirements. Manages the projections and transformations for project deliverables. Identifies, develops and implements GIS system needs and requirements to implement improved work methods including programming or scripting to support GIS workflows, automation, and integrations, such as: Arcade, JavaScript and Python. Establishes the creation and updating of new and existing GIS maps and map layers and GPS data edition and representation using ArcGIS in support of field surveys. Leads the implementation of new geospatial software or programs. Prepares and presents project analysis studies and recommendations to meet or exceed business goals, quality, and project efficiency. Recommends areas of improvement related to identifying training needs, workflow efficiency, quality of deliverables, etc. Develops quality check procedures to analyze data conversions and translations. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Serves as the main point of contact for Transportation with for company wide GIS initiatives and standards Leads GIS data mapping, collection and deliverable creation Responsible for the development and recommending GIS system needs and requirements and implementing improved work methods and quality control of deliverables. Review and Incorporate Publicly available data and enterprise level data sets to improve TRN projects Incorporate Geospatial data into big data initiatives to perform advanced data analysis Create and update new and existing GIS maps and map layers and GPS data edition and representation using ArcGIS in support of field surveys. Preparing and maintain GIS metadata that follows Burns & McDonnell governance standards and any client standards Prepare and manage public facing and/or editable GIS content while maintaining data privacy and integrity Develop custom GIS tools and online platforms for public engagement, environmental assessments, design deliverable integration, project communications, and construction management Develop model builders, python scripts, FME workspaces, etc. to automate repeatable workflows and to integrate other platforms with GIS Integrate and incorporate various geospatial platforms for effective project delivery including Nearmaps, Google Earth Professional advanced layers, ESRI premium data and others as identified, M4 utility mapping Maintain a working knowledge of available GIS data, providers, workflows and programs to identify new investments and process that can be implemented to improve the value proposition of GIS efforts for internal and external clients. Integrate ArcGIS Online with external systems and data sources via: REST APIs (ArcGIS REST API, third-party APIs), Web services (Feature Services, Map Services, REST endpoints) Qualifications Bachelor Degree Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related field and 8 years related experience Required or Associate Degree and 10 years related experience Required or High School Diploma/GED and 12 years related GIS experience Required Master's or PhD in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related field is preferred Demonstrated proficiency working in ArcPro and AGOL, including authoring, publishing, and managing web maps, hosted feature layers, and related content Proven skills to design and build interactive web mapping applications (e.g., Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, Instant Apps) focused on usability, performance and storytelling Expert knowledge of data analysis and statistics, including "big data" applications Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically and make quick and sound decisions Attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Experience working in FME Expert knowledge in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite Strong analytical strategic thinking and problem solving skills GIS certification from an accredited university Preferred GISP certification Preferred This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.EEO/Disabled/VeteransJob Geographic Information SystemsPrimary Location US-MO-Kansas CityOther Locations US-AR-Springdale, United StatesSchedule: Full-timeTravel: NoReq ID: 260375Job Hire Type Experienced #LI-JH #TRN N/A
