Excavator Operator

Excavator Operator Our clients Utility Division is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to support underground utility installation projects. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient construction of residential, commercial, and municipal infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in main line utility work and demonstrate strong situational awareness, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities Safely operate excavators of multiple sizes on underground utility construction projects Excavate, trench, and backfill for sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, and other underground infrastructure Locate existing utilities and work carefully around active lines Utilize trench shoring and other safety equipment according to OSHA standards Load, unload, and handle materials throughout the project Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment Collaborate with crew members and follow direction from supervisors Adhere strictly to company safety policies and OSHA requirements Participate in continuous safety and skills training Skills and Requirements Minimum 3 years of excavator operating experience in underground utility installation Valid driver's license Ability to consistently show up on time and ready to work Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and follow instruction Positive attitude and teamwork-oriented mindset Ability to identify, minimize, and proactively eliminate worksite hazards Experience with full site development (earthwork, grading, backfill, etc.) Familiarity with municipal or commercial utility projects Knowledge of trench safety and shoring best practices
