Radiologic Technician Join the team at NEW Health, a federally qualified health center, FQHC, that is affiliated with MGB, in Boston, MA as a Radiologic Technician and play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. Under general direction of the Chief Medical Officer, individual performs a variety of patient contact duties related to the operations of radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray images as directed by a physician. Explains safety protocols and routine diagnostic procedures to patients. The individual must have the capability of performing routine diagnostic procedures with speed, method, accuracy using various radiographic equipment. Conducts equipment system warm-up and quality assurance procedures according to established guidelines to ensure a safe and effective equipment operation Correctly interprets exam requests making sure history conforms to exam requested Positions and instructs patients regarding the procedures. Must be cognizant of patient's condition at all times Selects proper exposure factors for procedure Arranges, attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the desired radiographic positions and to prevent patients from moving and lessen patients’ discomfort Adjusts lead shield(s) and collimates to protect unaffected parts of the body from exposure to radiation. Directs personnel to safe area before exposure Acquires and maintains knowledge of related topics to include, but not limited to radiation safety, universal precaution, disposal of contaminated material, proper handling of requisitions (both before and after procedure), interpersonal skills, communications and dealing with difficult situations, etc. Maintains knowledge of the location of emergency equipment and the procedure necessary to alert the code team Maintains a high level of quality assurance for finished radiographs, safe and clean working environment Maintains a high standard of professionalism at all times. Demonstrates mastery of all procedures, troubleshoots equipment and places service tickets as needed Collaborates with QA Manager on quality improvement initiatives Demonstrates necessary skills: to prioritize, shows effective time-management, ability to multi-task and possesses excellent organization and communication skills Take diagnostic quality radiographs while minimizing dose to patient and technologist through ALARA program Process radiographs, ensuring proper patient positioning, exposure, collimation, laterality labeling and archival to PACS system Enter radiographic exams correctly into RIS system Uses Epic work queue to schedule all imaging orders provider has done and obtain prior authorization if needed Keep all log books up-to-date Manage program for dosimeters for facility Required Skills: Must be a registered radiologic technologist with current licensure in Massachusetts and ARRT certification.Must keep licensure up-to-date, past medical experience preferred (i.e. A.S.C.P., CAN, or HHA) Experience in diagnostic radiology Proficiency in medical imaging technologies Knowledge of anatomy and physiology BLS Certified Previous work in urgent care or outpatient settings Salary and Benefits: Minimum Salary: $65,000.00 Maximum Salary: $85,000.00 Health Insurance Life Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) and 403(b) options Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) Company Information: NEW Health is affiliated with Mass General Brigham is an integrated healthcare system based in Boston, Massachusetts, providing patient care, research, and education through its network of hospitals and clinics.
