This position plays a critical role in maximizing provider and facility efficiency while supporting patient comfort, safety, and understanding throughout the surgical process. Position Details: Minimum Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Licensure: None Experience: Previous experience as a surgery scheduler preferred, but not required. Certification/Registration: None Other Skills and Knowledge: Medical terminology. Computer skills. Telephone etiquette. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Key Responsibilities Schedule inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures in coordination with physicians, hospitals, and ambulatory surgery centers Communicate surgery details with patients, including dates, arrival times, pre-op instructions, and required testing Coordinate with joint surgeries with other departments and facility scheduling teams Prepare and distribute surgical packets and documentation Verify patient information, physician orders, and required authorizations or referrals Schedule post op appointments Maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record and reconcile post-procedure documentation Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or changes in a timely manner Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to improve scheduling workflows and efficiency Ensure compliance with office policies, HIPAA regulations, and payer requirements Why Mercy?
