Fluid & Distributed Systems Engineer - Fuel / Hydraulics (5-7 Years) Location: Sterling Heights, MI Pay Rate: $50.00 - $53.00/hr. Position Overview The Fluid & Distributed Systems Engineer will support the design and release of auxiliary mechanical and fluid subsystems for military ground vehicles. This role focuses on hydraulics and fuel systems, supporting system architecture, integration, build, test, and production activities within a defense vehicle environment. Primary system areas include hydraulic actuation, pneumatics, fuel systems, automatic fire suppression, camera cleaning systems, LRU cooling distribution, and winch/fairlead integration. Responsibilities to Anticipate Design and develop fluid and distributed systems including fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, fire suppression, and cooling distribution Develop system functional architecture, schematics, and analytical models Integrate components into vehicle platforms to meet performance, safety, environmental, ballistic, and mine blast requirements Perform design, integration, and analysis of mechanical components and mechanisms Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles Support engineering changes, drawing/model markups, tolerance stacks, and source data generation Write material and shop work requests; track parts and support integration reviews and fit checks Support prototype, production, and sustainment efforts including troubleshooting and corrective actions Conduct failure analysis and redesign activities as needed Present design concepts, program status, and risk considerations to leadership and customers Direct and oversee CAD model and drawing development Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering teams Qualifications Sought Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (Electrical Engineering with strong mechanical systems experience considered) 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience Demonstrated experience developing fluid system architecture, schematics, and troubleshooting Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals Experience supporting prototype and/or production build activities Root cause analysis and corrective action experience Solid modeling experience with NX and/or Creo Experience with Teamcenter; Vis Mockup a plus Ability to travel up to 20% as required Additional Desired Experience Experience supporting ground combat vehicle programs preferred Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship typically required) Comfortable working in and around military vehicles Willingness to support occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to work independently while supporting integrated vehicle teams Why Join CPI Competitive compensation aligned with defense program rates Direct support of mission-critical military vehicle programs Dedicated CPI recruiter and program support throughout assignment Opportunity to work on complex hydraulic and fuel systems in high-visibility programs Access to long-term cleared mechanical and systems engineering opportunities across CPI's defense portfolio US CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT: This assignment is a US Government Contract which requires all applicants to be US Citizens.
