Unbox Your Best Life and Apply NOW! Overview The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for all production (manufacturing) related purchasing of supplies. This individual must have strong communication and organizational skills in supporting the Controller and accounting team. Primary Responsibilities Place orders on a timely basis for purchases of materials and supplies Prepare complete and accurate purchase orders on company ERP Accurately receive materials from deliveries, confirm item receipt in the ERP Modify preexisting POs if necessary to reflect tax adjustments or pricing changes Assist accounting with invoice discrepancies Expedite delivery of goods to users Maintain necessary inventory levels non paper materials Assist in the set up/location of spare parts inventory items Be familiar with standard products used and research sources of supplies for highest quality, best value for money, best terms, etc. for presentation to management when needed Establish vendor files and inventory control records Assist in the setup of and maintain new vendors and subcontractors Schedule/expedite non manufactured item shipping, such as materials returns, materials transfers to other location Maintain price records and handle discrepancies as they arise Inform management of upcoming price increases, improved product availability, and economical alternatives Assist General Manager (and/or Controller) with purchases as needed, including capital equipment Assist with Month End inventory counts Occasionally operate fork lift Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred Two+ years' purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment SAP experience and Maintenance inventory software experience preferred Experience in the corrugated box industry preferred Required Skills Strong communication skills oral and written Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) Solid math skills including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest; knowledge of accounting principles Problem solving and critical thinking Highly organized, self-starter, work well under pressure Physical Demands Employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear; frequently required to sit; and occasionally required to stand. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This position operates in both an office and a plant environment. Therefore, exposure to wet, hot and/or humid conditions, and moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles. The noise level in the plant is usually loud.
