Salary: $44.56 - $59.26 Hourly Location : Madison, WI Job Type: Full time (1.0FTE) Job Number: 2026-00022 Department: Human Services Department Opening Date: 02/27/2026 Closing Date: 3/13/2026 11:59 PM Central FLSA: Exempt Bargaining Unit: MGR Description The Dane County Human Services Department has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for a Social Work Supervisor position. This position will be working within the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program. The eligibility list created will be used to fill future Social Work Supervisor positions. DEFINITION Under the direction of assigned Manager, the Behavioral Health Social Work Supervisor supervises assigned staff, evaluates performance, and recommends action on hiring, probationary periods, discipline and complaints. Ensures unit coverage, reviews and assigns the workload, provides consultation and direction, participates in and coordinates meetings. Responsible for program efficiency and quality of staff work within assigned program areas. Provides initial orientation to staff and ongoing training to help staff increase their knowledge, skills and effectiveness. Performsquality assurance functions. Ensures consumer's behavioral health services are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, consumer driven and recovery oriented. Represents the County and program in meetings andcommittees. Prepares data, reports and presentations under the direction of assigned Manager. Maintains professional standards of social work practice and performs related duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: CHILDREN'S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH (CBH): Provides supervision and clinical oversight to the staff of Dane County's Youth Connect Program, an outpatient youth crisis stabilization program, or the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) and the State of Wisconsin Children's Long-Term Support (mental health designation) (CLTS) Waiver programs for children and youth. Ensures clinical and case management needs are addressed. Guides staff to ensure interagency coordination of services and positive outcomes for program participants. Works in conjunction with Manager to ensure state requirements, standards and quality practices within CCS and CLTS are met, or compliance with DHS 34 and Medicaid Crisis billing requirement are adhered to (Youth Connect). COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY SERVICES (CCS): Provides supervision and clinical oversight to Dane County's Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) Intake unit. Ensures that the CCS Intake process examines the consumer's behavioral health needs across the lifespan, is culturally responsive, consumer driven, and recovery oriented. Works in conjunction with CCS Administrator to ensure quality Functional Screen completion, intake processes that are in compliance with DHS 36 requirements, and timely implementation of Intake changes. Education, Experience and Special Requirements Education, Training and Experience:Minimum Requirements: A Master's degree in Social Work or related Human Services field and a minimum of two (2) years' professional experience in the behavioral health field. Certifications/Licenses: Current valid Wisconsin certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Professional Counselor is required. Certification as a WI Substance Abuse Counselor, or WI Substance Abuse Specialty designation is desired but not required. Special Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Also refer to the "Physical and Environmental Work Requirements" section below. Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. For Bilingual Positions: Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job. If applicable, individuals may confirm with the Employee Relations Division whether results of bilingual language certifications/ examinations they currently hold qualify them for the position's bilingual designation. Physical and Environmental Work Requirements: Professional office work environment. Ability to travel from office to other locations. Work involves walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping, and reaching within normal ranges. Ability to lift and move a variety of work-related materials weighing up to 25 pounds (with/without assistance). Prolonged computer and phone use. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Ability to speak and be heard by others. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the behavioral health services in Dane County and ability to assess the needs of individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Knowledge of trauma informed care and treatment (including impacts of historical and complex trauma across the lifespan for all populations, but especially people of color). Knowledge of culturally relevant treatment modalities related to the populations being served. Knowledge of effective supervisory techniques and methods. Understanding of the principles of administrative management. Familiarity with or ability to learn Dane County human services programs. Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and agencies providing services to these programs. Ability to work effectively with persons from a variety of socioeconomic, ethnic, or racial groups. Ability to lead and motivate others. Ability to maintain perspective and balance in the face of competing priorities. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to supervise staff of varying skills, abilities and experiences. Excellent organizational skills. Undesirable Hours Premium Pay: Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and/or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups). Paid Parental Leave: Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child. Caregiver Leave: Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member. Telecommuting: Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee.
