Manager, System Communication Position Overview: The Manager, System Communication at Penn Highlands Healthcare will be a dynamic and creative individual responsible for overseeing and executing strategic communication initiatives across the healthcare system. This position will focus on developing and managing communication strategies, creating compelling content, coordinating media relations, and ensuring consistent messaging aligned with the mission and values of Penn Highlands Healthcare. The role will require strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to enhance the system's visibility and reputation. Key Responsibilities: Creative Writing & Content Development: • Develop high-quality written content for various communication platforms, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, website copy, and internal communications. • Create engaging narratives to support the healthcare system's messaging, aligning with the values and mission of Penn Highlands Healthcare. • Craft content for both public and internal audiences, ensuring consistency, clarity, and engagement. Media Relations: • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets. • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses to media requests. • Develop press materials, including press releases, media advisories, and backgrounders, to promote organizational news and initiatives. • Coordinate media interviews, events, and briefings to ensure positive and consistent coverage of Penn Highlands Healthcare. • Take media calls after hours and be available for crisis communications. Project Management: • Lead and manage communication projects from inception through completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and objectives are met. • Collaborate with various departments to ensure communication needs are addressed, and all projects are aligned with overall strategic goals. • Develop and manage timelines for projects, ensuring key deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard. System-Wide Communication Plans: • Assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of system-wide communication strategies to enhance the public image and brand of Penn Highlands Healthcare. • Collaborate with leadership to ensure communication strategies reflect organizational goals, priorities, and initiatives. • Monitor and analyze communication efforts to assess their effectiveness and make recommendations for continuous improvement. • Support the implementation of crisis communication plans and other emergency communications as necessary. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, clinical teams, sales, marketing, to ensure communication strategies are integrated and effective. • Provide strategic communication counsel to departments across the organization, ensuring all communications are aligned with overall messaging. • Foster a culture of communication excellence by advising staff on best practices and techniques for engaging with various audiences. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a communication or public relations role, with at least 2 years in a project management capacity. Healthcare or large organization experience is preferred. Must have valid PA Drivers License, ability to travel to PHH facilities and a smart phone. Trained in NIMS, or acquire after employment. Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Strong understanding of media relations and experience working with reporters and media outlets. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project management software, and social media platforms. Familiarity with communication tools and analytics software. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
