Job Description

Are you an experienced Critical Care Paramedic (CCP/FP-C)? Medic 1 Ambulance is pioneering an ECHO Paramedic program here in Southwest Michigan. We are looking to build a small team of highly-skilled paramedics who are masters of their craft to participate in a tiered system. In the area you would be working, we operate LALS and BLS transporting ambulances. The ECHO Paramedics respond in a non-transport vehicle and are only dispatched on calls that are deemed likely to require ALS, or at the request of BLS crews on scene. If the ECHO Paramedic determines the patient requires ALS level care, they will join the BLS crew and transport the patient to the hospital. Our ECHO Paramedics are members of an elite team that are first to receive new training opportunities, test new equipment, and implement advanced protocols. We are currently developing a whole-blood program, and intend to continue to pursue new protocols and procedures for our ECHO Paramedic crews. Medic 1 Ambulance is a municipally owned EMS agency that serves Berrien County, MI. Medic 1 is a well-balanced system with stations that cover over 42 miles of Lake Michigan coastline, 50+ miles of interstate, both rural areas and busy urban areas. Applicants must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: 1. Critical thinking in stressful situations. 2. Knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminology. 3. Currently licensed State of Michigan Paramedic. 4. Current BLS Card 5. Current ACLS Card 6. Current PALS or EPC (must be obtained within 1 year of hire) 7. CCP or FP-C Certification 8. 3+ Years of experience as an ALS Provider 9. Complete knowledge of protocols and skillful application of those protocols. 10. Able to maintain harmonious relationships with fellow crew members, public safety personnel, and the general public under stressful situations. 11. Able to show empathy towards patients and others. 12. Physical Fitness: Paramedics must maintain physical fitness in order to perform the job. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, must be able to stand, walk, sit, operate motor vehicles, balance, work at heights, climb stairs, twist/turn, bend/stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, and crawl. Paramedics are often called upon to work in harsh or austere environments including extremes of temperature, noisy, adverse, or poor weather conditions for extended periods of time. Lifting includes occasionally lifting 100lbs or more with or without assistance.
