Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTIONS: The Business & Employee Skills Training (BEST) Center is the workforce development department at Genesee Community. The BEST Center is the recognized regional leader in developing the skilled workforce that powers local area economic growth. The BEST Center provides a wide array of programs, and services designed to prepare individual employees as well as businesses and organizations for success in the regional economy. For more information about the BEST Center visit: The coordinator is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day operations and coordination of various technical training and apprenticeship programs within The BEST Center. The Coordinator is responsible for a variety of key functions within The BEST Center, including increasing non-credit enrollment and program expansion. This position serves as a critical bridge between the local advanced manufacturing industry, community-based programs and other educational partners, creating a pipeline for the regional workforce through non-credit enrollment, program expansion, and registered apprenticeships. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates and maintains assigned open-enrollment courses and other new non-credit programs and activities including but not limited to Mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, CNC, HVAC, welding, and computer technical programs. Responsible for course and program budget creation, fiscal accountability, and identifying grant opportunities to offset training costs. Manage scheduling, instructor recruitment, facility selection, and instructional materials. Track student progress, digital badges, micro-credentials, and continuing education units (CEUs). Provide learning outcomes and job placement data to reporting agencies. Networks with area employers, community organizations, and potential students to build relationships, assess training needs and promote the BEST Center offerings. Maintains regular communication with company representatives, instructors, trainers, consultants, other external entities, and the college's business office to ensure operations are conducted in a timely manner. Maintains critical inventory of equipment and resources needed to support instruction. Works with the Executive Director and instructors to determine purchasing needs. Works closely with department secretary to ensure accurate enrollment of all students, confirm all necessary paperwork is completed, troubleshoot any enrollment issues, and provide support to instructors, trainers, and consultants to ensure class success. Ensures that student progress, including digital badges, micro-credentials, continuing education units (and similar units) is tracked, recorded properly and submitted to appropriate entities. Drafts contracts, agreements and associated paperwork following contract negotiation by the Executive Director. Acts as liaison to instructors/trainers/consultants, partner company and community organization representatives, GCC staff, program providers, state agencies, etc. Makes referrals to Executive Director as appropriate. May function as a host or BEST Center representative at specific events as requested by Executive Director. Assist with and provide departmental customer service for registrations, walk-ins, emails and incoming calls. Promote programs and student success by providing information and advisement, answering questions, addressing concerns and resolving issues regarding programs and their requirements. Makes referrals to other staff members, as necessary. Works as part of The BEST Center team to develop programs, training, marketing ideas, increase efficiency, build team cohesiveness, optimize revenue and support the BEST Center's and college's strategic priorities, mission and goals. Works with other college personnel and offices to create, manage and deliver programs. Serves on college committees and teams as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Requirements: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree preferred (Associate's degree required) in business, organizational development, education, advanced manufacturing, or related field required. EXPERIENCE Experience (at least three years with an Associate's Degree) in client relationship management, program management, project management or education required. Experience in workforce-development program management with experience in advanced manufacturing training and/or apprenticeships preferred. Knowledge of instructional methods preferred. Grant management experience preferred. Experience developing and maintaining relationships with employers and community organizations is preferred. Familiarity with the economic driver's and advanced manufacturing base of the GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming Counties) region preferred. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Required: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate and work effectively with office staff, faculty, students and members of the communities served. Must possess strong organizational skills and be capable of handling a high degree of administrative responsibility. Must be versatile, creative and capable of carrying out a variety of tasks with a minimum amount of supervision. Understanding of basic accounting principles and budgets. Knowledge and competence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity. Preferred: Knowledge of advanced manufacturing trends, emerging trends in workforce development and/or technical training, the changing landscape in computer technology and life-long learning topics. The ability to assess organizational training needs. Experience in instructor recruitment, supervision, and evaluation. Strong knowledge of adult-learning methodologies, curriculum design and course administration and implementation. Additional Information: RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Executive Director of Workforce Development. SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are set by the GEA contract. Position is compensated at a rate of $43,868.98 annually. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
