The Transportation Specialist is responsible for coordinating and optimizing transportation's day-to-day operations to achieve business goals and operational efficiency. The Transportation Specialist manages schedules, tracks organs, liaises with couriers and ensures adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The Transportation Specialist utilizes current processes and procedures, and coordinates with other departments to ensure the safe and timely delivery of transportation services (goods, services, and people). The Transportation Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with business customers, and for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations is maintained. Responsibilities Operations and maintenance: Manage daily operations of transportation and distribution to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations. Develop, implement, and maintain transportation and logistical strategies, processes, and indicators in support of transportation needs. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate transportation services. Interact closely with transportation staff and vendors, including drivers. Customer service and collaboration skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Maintain excellent working relationships with other internal departments. Safety and compliance: Ensure transportation complies with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements. Ensure effective systems for logging and tracking transportation needs, including people, goods and services. Develop emergency preparedness for transportation needs. Procurement, vendor and contract management: Manage contracts with external vendors and service providers. Oversee vendor performance and maintain relationships with transportation companies (courier and vehicles). Coordinate emergency transportation needs with vendors that provide services to LiveOnNY. Ensures vendors comply with building requirements, such as COI and driver insurance coverage compliance. Strategic and financial management: Participate in the development of the transportation budget, manage and monitor financial metrics for transportation. Qualifications Education and/or experience: Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics or related. A minimum of three (3) years' experience in and demonstrated understanding of transportation and logistics operations. Excellent organizational skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and logistics software and dashboards. Knowledge of the principles of quality improvement. Ability to teach, train and work as a team member. Preferred: Experience working with transportation and logistics services is preferred. Previous experience in a position with substantially similar responsibilities, in both level of complexity and size of the transportation operation, is preferred. Strong understanding of project management, resource allocation and milestone delivery. Qualifications include: Coordinate with couriers, drivers and internal teams to ensure smooth logistics operations that meet customer and business needs.
