Job Details Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical (Med-Surg RN, Cardiac/Telemetry focus) Location: Midtown Memphis, TN 38104 (Tennessee travel nurse opportunity) Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center Unit: 5 North M/S (Med/Surg with Cardiac/Telemetry patients) Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026) Shift: Day, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:00) Hours per Week: 36 Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (travel nurse pay range) Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics (cardiac, med-surg diagnoses) Patient Ratios: Days/Nights/Weekends: 1:6/7 (goal 1:5) Orientation: 16 hours Weekend Requirement: As needed On-Call: As needed Local Radius Rule: Must live at least 100 miles from facility Job Requirements (Qualifications) Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience — recent Level I Trauma and large hospital experience required At least 1 completed prior travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted) Active RN license in Tennessee or active compact RN license (no pending licenses) Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required Epic EHR/charting experience preferred (electronic health record experience a plus) Clinical skills: Med/Surg, Telemetry, IV start, cardiac rhythm interpretation Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) Must be able to work 2 of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s All requested time off must be submitted with application Willingness to float between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius when needed Responsibilities Provide safe, evidence-based care as a Med/Surg RN to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and medical-surgical diagnoses (CHF, AMI, post-cath lab, pacemaker placements, ablations, etc.) Monitor telemetry, verify rhythm strips, and escalate cardiac changes per protocol (telemetry/cardiac telemetry nurse duties) Titrate heparin and other continuous drips per protocol and perform accurate medication reconciliation Administer medications, manage set-rate drips, and perform IV starts and line care Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams Provide patient and family education, support discharge planning, and maintain accurate, timely charting in the EHR Float between similar units as needed and provide weekend/on-call coverage when required Why Midtown Memphis?
