Human Resources Generalist The HR Generalist serves as the administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management, which may include but not limited to recruiting and onboarding, employee/labor relations, workers compensation, compensation, annual harassment policy training, employee engagement, and employee records. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance. Provides internal support and partnership to business lines to deliver required human resources. May evaluate, select, and oversee vendors that provide supplemental HR processes and services. Coordinates with HR support staff to process and maintain employment, attendance, and other records. In addition to HR related functions, this role will also have responsibilities related to the site safety functions. This exempt role reports to the Director of HR, in Danville, Illinois, but is an onsite role in Houston, Texas. Responsibilities Achieves staffing objectives by assisting with the recruitment and evaluation of job candidates; advising managers; and managing relocations. Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives and meeting with managers to discuss needs. Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; and maintaining rapport. Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications. Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements, using newsgroups and job boards. Determines applicant qualifications by conducting initial interviews, analyzing responses, verifying references, and comparing qualifications to job requirements. Arranges management interviews by coordinating schedules; arranging travel, lodging, and meals; escorting applicant to interviews; and arranging community tours. Evaluates applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers and interviewing applicants on a consistent set of qualifications. Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices and emphasizing benefits and perks. Conduct Onboarding activities for all Houston new hires in coordination with Onboarding Coordinator in Danville. Assist and facilitate benefits and leave of absence related activities, in coordination with the Benefits Administrator in Danville. Responsible for routine workforce communication using email, posters, and internal TV postings. Responsible facilitation of the Annual Employee Engagement Survey process and associated activities. Responsible for submitting claim information for work related injuries as well as coordinating care at local occupational medicine facilities as necessary. Assist with Employee Relations by drafting disciplinary memos, termination letters, conducting investigations as needed, and administering terminations in partnership with management and HR Director. Responsible for updating and maintaining employee records within HRIS and electronic file system. Co-Lead the Employee Activities Committee, leading meetings, assist in coordinating events, and assist with execution of events. Responsible for ensuring activities are within the designated budget for the year. Assist with coordination and facilitation of annual ant-harassment policy training. Assist local team with completion of any HR forms required from potential customers. Work closely with Danville EHS Coordinator, operations, management, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance. Assist in implementing and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments Track and support closure of corrective actions for Incidents, Near misses and Hazards Reported Performing and following up on Accident/Incident investigations Maintain the SDS and monitor usage of materials Coordinate and deliver EHS training (new hire orientation, job-specific training, refresher courses) Assist in Maintaining training records and compliance documentation Participate in safety committees and improvement initiatives Overnight travel may be required, specifically to Danville location. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications/Skills: Recruiting and interviewing skills Experience with Microsoft Office Products, specifically Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Powerpoint Experience with an HRIS (ADP, Peoplesoft, UKG, Sage, etc) Familiarity with relevant employment Law Professionalism, organization, and project management skills Demonstrated communication skills, verbal and written Prior experience in customer service other position requiring daily interaction with customers/employees Required Education and Licensing Prefer 2-4 years exempt and non-exempt recruiting experience in full life-cycle environment, including management of multiple high-volume roles simultaneously Prefer a minimum 2 years' experience recruiting in relevant industry environment Prefer at least 1 year of equivalent experience Bachelor's degree preferred.
