General Summary The Hospital Billing Manager provides strategic direction and supervision for the hospital billing department, managing daily operations and fostering a high-performing team environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hospital billing regulations and serve as a resource for the team. Supervise, train, and mentor billing staff to enhance performance and professional development. Evaluate and monitor team members' work, providing coaching and counseling to drive positive change. Set clear objectives and priorities, assign tasks, and ensure quality control of billing activities. Lead the team through business challenges with sound judgment and effective communication. Oversee daily operations to address emerging issues and trends, keeping stakeholders informed of risks. Education An associate degree in healthcare or a related field is required. Five years of hospital billing experience may substitute for formal education. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience At least one year of hospital billing experience is required. Certification/License Certification from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) is preferred. Mental/Physical Requirements Requires considerable mental concentration and the ability to communicate detailed information effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Working Conditions Work environment includes limited space and variable air conditioning. Background noise from office equipment and conversations is common. Flexibility to work as needed to meet facility goals and maintain operational efficiency is expected.
