Payroll Manager Salary: $90,000 – $105,000 annually (DOE) Overview: A growing construction-focused organization is seeking an experienced and dependable Payroll Manager. This role is essential in maintaining seamless weekly payroll operations while the company navigates an accounting system conversion to Vista. The Payroll Manager will oversee full-cycle, in-house payroll for a multi-state workforce and ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness in a complex job cost environment. Key Responsibilities: Weekly Payroll Processing Process weekly payroll for 185+ employees (seasonally 200+) Manage payroll data entry Monday–Wednesday Balance payroll, deductions, and liabilities Generate and distribute pay stubs Ensure payroll is processed accurately each Wednesday Construction & Certified Payroll Manage job cost payroll by job, cost code, and equipment Process certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting Complete Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) reporting Track and reconcile project-specific labor allocations Compliance & Reporting Prepare and reconcile Form 941 Manage multi-state payroll tax reporting (CO, TX, WY) Process unemployment and workers’ compensation reporting Complete month-end and quarter-end payroll close tasks Reconcile payroll accounts and liabilities System & Process Support Work within a legacy accounting system supplemented heavily by Excel Support upcoming Vista system implementation Assist with payroll process documentation and cleanup Identify discrepancies and independently trace out-of-balance issues Qualifications: 3+ years of full-cycle, in-house payroll experience (manager-level experience preferred) Construction or job cost payroll experience strongly preferred Experience preparing and filing Form 941 Multi-state payroll experience required Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and reconciliations Ability to manage payroll without outsourcing to third-party providers High level of confidentiality and professionalism Ideal Candidate Profile: Detail-oriented and analytical with strong troubleshooting skills Confident handling full payroll ownership from start to finish Team-oriented but capable of working independently Comfortable interacting with field staff, superintendents, office personnel, and executive leadership Professional, discreet, and adaptable during organizational transitions Additional Details: Fully in-office (private office provided) Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM No overtime anticipated Reports to accounting leadership and works alongside payroll and benefits staff Why This Role Matters: This Payroll Manager position is critical to maintaining operational stability during a pivotal system conversion and organizational transition.
