Purchasing Agent Dayton, OH The Schaefer Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our Dayton, Ohio team. This is a full-time, on-site role supporting procurement operations for custom industrial furnace systems and manufacturing projects. We are looking for a detail-oriented purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can manage vendors, inventory, and purchasing processes efficiently. Key Responsibilities Issue and process purchase orders for materials, inventory, shop supplies, and equipment Monitor open purchase orders and ensure timely delivery Follow up with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, and order status Coordinate with Receiving to resolve discrepancies or shipment issues Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with suppliers Track and analyze purchasing costs Maintain vendor records and documentation within ERP system Support inventory control and supply chain efficiency Provide backup support for Purchasing Buyer as needed Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred Strong knowledge of purchase order processing and vendor management Experience with ERP systems (Great Plains preferred) Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines High school diploma or GED required Preferred Experience Inventory management and cost analysis Vendor contract negotiation Familiarity with accounting and supply chain processes Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation (based on experience) Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contribution 401(k) with 10% company match Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability Paid time off and holidays Work Environment 100% on-site in Dayton, OH Office and light manufacturing setting Stable, established industrial company with long-term growth
