Position Summary Provides technical leadership to machinists in designated area. Performs setup on, operates, and maximizes uptime on a variety of CNC machinery including multi axis mill turns with sub spindles and up to 5 axis mills with pallet lines. Applies inspection techniques to monitor the CNC process. Coordinates with Machinists and Manufacturing Engineers, as well as production planning to optimize workflow in designated areas of the machine shop. Collaborates with colleagues to maximize productivity in the precision manufacturing of the highest quality valves & actuators for aerospace and power generation customers. Responsibilities Maximize efficiency of CNC machines in designated area, maximize number of nightly "lights-out" hours Setup and run multiple machine centers. Optimize setup times across multiple machines, Implement setup time reduction countermeasures Read and interpret complex blue prints, shop travelers, and operation sketches for machined parts Inspect parts to specifications and document results. Using an offline tool pre-setter, prepare and set tools needed for multiple machining operations. Accurately and efficiently diagnose deviations and trends, troubleshoot and resolve issues on the floor Performs program modifications in Esprit, follows YFT procedures for program put-away and method documentation Define, track and report on machining efficiencies using process metrics. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization. Experience in set-up and operation of multi axis CNC Mill Turns. Pallet line experience a plus. 15 or more years in a CNC machining environment, demonstrates proficiency in both operating and programming CNC Mills, Multi-Tasking machines and Lathes. Strong understanding of G-code. Ability to work from complex drawings containing GD&T. Ability to perform accurate manual inspections of parts produced. Experience with low volume, high mix production a plus. High School Graduate or equivalent; technical certification or degree a plus.
