Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist, where your expertise in medication compounding and dispensing will directly impact patient care. This role involves collaborating closely with fellow pharmacists to ensure safe and accurate medication management. Key Responsibilities Efficiently enter and verify medication orders using Meditech, ensuring accuracy and preventing duplication. Provide knowledgeable responses to pharmacy staff, nursing, and physicians by researching medication information through Meditech and other resources. Utilize Omni Server reports to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records. Review physician orders for completeness and accuracy, clarifying any uncertainties with prescribers and documenting interactions. Conduct thorough checks for duplicate therapies, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and inappropriate orders. Ensure dispensed medications match prescriber orders and operate pharmacy automation systems effectively. Perform safety checks including barcode scanning and visual inspections during medication dispensing processes. Verify and sign off on Unit Dose repackaging and maintain competency in sterile IV preparation. Prepare compounded sterile products using aseptic techniques and document chemotherapy treatments accurately. Maintain cleanliness and compliance with USP 797 standards in the IV room and pharmacy areas. Manage narcotic counts and controlled substance documentation with precision and timeliness. Participate actively in pharmacy committees and contribute to drug information requests from healthcare professionals and patients. Assist in pharmacist hiring and precept pharmacy students, supporting professional development. Collaborate with the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator to enhance pharmaceutical care and drug therapy management. Complete all clinical documentation and mandatory annual education requirements. Education A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy is required. Experience One year of hospital pharmacy experience or internship is preferred. Licensure and Certification Must hold or be able to obtain a pharmacist license within 90 days in the relevant state. Active membership in pharmacy organizations is encouraged. Mental and Physical Requirements This position requires sustained mental concentration and physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions Standard pharmacy environment with exposure to printer, automation, and telephone noise. The role involves meeting deadlines and handling sensitive situations with professionalism.
