Botanical Garden Attendant-Guard Duties and Responsibilities The Part-Time (PT) Attendant Guard reports to the Facilities Supervisor and under supervision does the following work: Attends, guards, and patrols the botanical garden and perimeter Light cleaning and labor duties Assists in moving chairs and tables during special events Works with Community Service and other volunteers Meets, greets and provides basic wayfinding and related information to the visiting public, including groups. Evening shifts may require you to be the only employee on-site The PT Guard is responsible for: Protection of the botanical garden buildings, equipment, and collections Proper notification to supervisors regarding hazardous conditions Filing incident reports Maintaining order in the areas of assignment Taking appropriate action as needed to notify supervisors, call police, fire department or ambulance, etc. Qualifications Possess and maintain a valid Driver's license Possess a NYS Security Guard Certification Experience as a Guard or Security Officer in a similar setting Ability to communicate in different languages, a plus Ability to troubleshoot various situations Customer service experience a plus Cleaning experience a plus Flexibility in schedule a plus Fire Guard Certificate of Fitness a plus Schedule This is part-time seasonal position. Position is available Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 6:30pm from April through mid-November, with possibility for extension. This position includes some evening and weekend work.
